DESIGN

Polygons that catch light

Goddess Mode started with a challenge: how do you make classical sculpture feel geometric without losing the recognizable silhouette? We mapped the form in polygons, adjusting density until the planes caught light like faceted stone. Each polygon face angles differently, so as light shifts throughout the day, different surfaces illuminate.

FITTING STONE INTO A BOX Goddess Mode presented two engineering problems we'd never faced. First: making it compact enough to fit our signature box without compromising proportions. At 12 inches tall, shipping it assembled wasn't an option. We designed a detachable head with a cavity underneath the base that holds the head during shipping. The sculpture packs flat, ships efficiently, assembles into full height at your desk.
Second challenge: making that head connection invisible. This is our model with the fewest pieces, and we wanted it to feel like a single carved block - the way classical marble looks monolithic. We engineered a socket joint that locks the head firmly to the body with tolerances tight enough that the seam nearly disappears. We tested connection depths, angle alignments, surface textures around the joint until we found the zone where it clicks together smoothly but holds rigidly. The result looks like one continuous piece of geometric stone.

Computational craft

This was our first time optimizing for a desk piece rather than wall mounting. The engineering shifts completely - weight distribution matters differently, stability comes from base geometry instead of mounting hardware, and the viewing angle is close-range instead of across-room. Every detail serves dual purpose: visual form and physical function.

Every sculpture carries an engraved Unicity ID on the base. When you own piece #053, you're holding part of the production run that expanded MODLD beyond walls. Not just a serial number - documentation that this piece came from our process, our material choice, our limited series.

Stands without anchoring

Goddess Mode doesn't need mounting hardware. The base geometry provides stability - 6 inches wide supporting 12 inches of height. We engineered the weight distribution so it stands firmly on any flat surface without additional support. Center of gravity stays low, base footprint provides enough surface contact for secure placement.
