Each sculpture begins as digital geometry, shaped in 3D software with precise polygon placement. Months of iteration to get every angle right, every edge sharp. What you see on screen becomes what you hold in your hands.

ENGINEERING THE EXPRESSION The flamingo head was the hardest part to engineer. It's built from four separate pieces that combine into one complete, expressive form. We designed an internal black component that creates the foundation, with two tiny recesses precision-cut for the eyes. The white beak section slides over the top, and suddenly the flamingo's distinctive black eyes appear, as if by magic. It's a simple solution that took months to discover.
Then comes the lower beak, another black piece that forms the flamingo's unmistakable curved shape. All three of these components, white and black, have to slide perfectly into the main pink head structure. That pink piece then connects to the body through an octagonal joint we engineered for maximum strength and alignment. Every tolerance matters. Too tight and parts won't fit. Too loose and it falls apart. We iterated for months until every piece clicked exactly right.

Computational craft

Splitting a 3D model into buildable parts takes months of engineering. We calculate which sections connect, what materials balance strength and flexibility, how tolerances let pieces snap without force. 3D printing isn't just hitting print. It's choosing filament, engineering joints, testing until every connection clicks perfectly.

Every MODLD sculpture carries an engraved Unicity ID on the back. It's your guarantee of authenticity in a world of knockoffs and mass production. Only 200 pieces exist per design. When you own piece #110, you know it came from us, made with our process, numbered in our limited series.
